United and Delta will resume Israel service. United will be first, with daily service between Newark and Tel Aviv restarting on March 15. The carrier will add a second daily frequency on March 29.
Delta will relaunch daily flights between New York JFK and Tel Aviv on April 1.
Both resumptions have been announced as Israel and Hamas are in the midst of a six-week ceasefire in which Hamas is to release 33 hostages, some deceased, in exchange for Israel releasing hundreds of Palestinian prisoners and allowing Palestinians to return to the northern portion of Gaza. Talks have now commenced on phase two of the ceasefire, which would involve the release by Hamas of all remaining hostages and Israel's withdrawal from Gaza.
Absent further agreement or an extension, the ceasefire is slated to end on March 2.
Both United and Delta said they made their decision following a security review.
United, Delta and American had been flying to Israel but suspended service due to the Israel-Hamas war as well as broader conflicts between Israel and Iran and Hezbollah in Lebanon.
El Al and Israeli carrier Arkia are currently flying between the U.S and Israel.
