Travel insurance company Faye is also now in the business of selling smartphone data plans to customers traveling internationally.

Faye has added a digital eSIM to its platform, enabling travelers to access data and high-speed networks in more than 190 countries via its app.

Faye said it's the first travel insurance platform to offer digital connectivity and travel protection.

Users will be offered different eSIM packages depending on the duration of their trip and the destination, with packages ranging from 1 to 20 gigabytes.

"The eSIM works across multiple regions, requiring activation only once, and can be used alongside a primary physical SIM or eSIM," Faye said. "This allows customers to use apps like WhasApp or other messaging apps with their primary number for calling and texting."

Faye is offering the eSIM in partnership with Gigs, a mobile services operating system.

Doron Samish, Faye's vice president of product, said users are already using the feature.

"Staying connected abroad ought to be easy and shouldn't cost the world," Samish said. "With just a few taps, travelers can now activate their eSIM directly in the Faye app and avoid hefty roaming fees or the hassle of getting a physical SIM card abroad."
