The Salamander Collection portfolio now includes the PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Salamander partnered with real estate firms Henderson Park and South Street Partners to purchase the PGA National from Brookfield Asset Management for an undisclosed sum.
PGA National Resort opened in 1981, and the 807-acre property is fresh off a $100 million renovation. The resort has 360 guestrooms as well as six golf courses -- two of them were designed by golf legends Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer.
The Champion course (designed by Nicklaus) has hosted the PGA Tour's annual Cognizant Classic since 2007.
The resort is also home to a 40,000-square-foot spa and tennis and pickleball courts. The PGA National's four restaurants include the Butcher's Club, a steakhouse from "Top Chef" winner Jeremy Ford.
Sheila Johnson, founder and CEO of the Salamander Collection, called the PGA National Resort "one of the most iconic golf resorts in America."
"We are excited to share our authentic and diverse style of hospitality, which guests enjoy at our other destinations," said Johnson.
The new owners plan to add a new pool and "significant enrichments to the golf experience" for members and resort guests.
The PGA National Resort is Salamander's second Florida golf resort, joining Innisbrook in Palm Harbor. Salamander has seven total properties.
