Expedia Group OTAs have begun selling Southwest Airlines tickets, marking the first time Southwest has partnered with online travel agencies.
Select Southwest flights are now available on Expedia.com, Travelocity, Hotwire, Orbitz and CheapTickets. All Southwest flights will available on those sites by Feb. 27, Southwest said.
The move signals another expansion of Southwest's distribution strategy. Last year the carrier began displaying fares on metasearch sites Kayak and Google Flights.
"We are pleased to broaden our distribution with this new cost-effective channel," said Tony Roach, Southwest's executive vice president of customer and brand. "Expedia provides a high-quality experience, and we look forward to partnering with them to introduce new travelers to our extensive network and Southwest hospitality."
Entry into the OTA market is Southwest's latest business model iteration as it strives to boost revenue.
