The Peppa Pig Theme Park in Texas, designed for preschool-age children up to age 6, officially opened to the public on Saturday.

Based on the popular Peppa Pig brand, the park comes from Merlin Entertainments, the company that operates Legoland theme parks, Sea Life aquariums and other attractions.

Single-day admission starts at $27.99 per person. The My First Theme Park Package, which includes admission and park merchandise, starts at $49.99. Annual passes are $99.99. The park is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The park's five attractions are all designed for preschoolers.

Daddy Pig's Roller Coaster, Merlin said, is "an exciting — yet approachable first coaster experience — perfect for adventurous little ones."

On Mr. Bull's High Striker, riders will be lifted up then brought back to the ground with gentle drops. Grampy Rabbit's Dinosaur Adventure invites riders to hop on to a dinosaur's back for a trip around volcanoes and mountains. Grandad Dog's Pirate Boat Ride invites riders of all ages (there is no height limit) to sail to Pirate Island. And Peppa Pig's Balloon Ride, which is wheelchair accessible, sends riders into the sky for views of the entire park.

There are nine playscapes, including Peppa's Treehouse, George's Fort and Rebecca Rabbit's Playground, and during warm weather, guests can enjoy the Muddy Puddles Splash Pad.

Live shows featuring characters from the series will be held at Mr. Potato's Showtime Arena. Character meet-and-greets will be held after each show.

The park is an International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards Certified Autism Center. It features wheelchair-accessible paths, quiet spaces and Sensory Guides.

Merlin has licensed the Peppa Pig brand from Hasbro, and operates two other Peppa Pig parks, in Winter Haven, Fla., and Gunzberg, Germany.

The park in the Dallas-Fort Worth area celebrated its grand opening Friday before it opened to the public on Saturday, led by Merlin CEO Fiona Eastwood. Peppa, her brother George and Mummy and Daddy Pig all attended.

"Merlin Entertainments' opportunity to bring an iconic children's television character to life in a theme park is truly special," Eastwood said in a release. "We're not only responsible for building this beautiful park, but also for preserving the magic of Peppa Pig in this immersive experience for little ones. We are hoping families will create memories of a lifetime here."

Merlin isn't the only company that's been drawn to design attractions for young children in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Universal Destinations & Experiences is also planning a theme park designed for young children, the Universal Kids Resort, to be located in Frisco about 45 minutes away from the Peppa park. A 2026 opening is planned.
