Seabourn will sell a second ship to Japanese cruise line Mitsui Ocean Cruises.

The Seabourn Sojourn will be sold to Mitsui, a subsidiary of Mitsui O.S.K. Lines. Mitsui already operates the 458-passenger Mitsui Ocean Fuji, the former Seabourn Odyssey, which entered service for Mitsui in December.

Passengers booked on Sojourn sailings through May 2026 will continue to sail under the Seabourn brand: Seabourn said it will charter the ship back from Mitsui and operate its published voyages through the end of the world cruise, which ends on May 15, 2026.

The Sojourn will be delivered to Mitsui after the charter period, and Seabourn said that the ship will then be deployed by its new owners in a market that is not competitive with Seabourn. Guests and travel advisors with bookings impacted after the handover date will receive a message from Seabourn with details on changes or rebooking options.

"With this transition, Seabourn will have one of the youngest and most modern fleets in the business, perfectly suited to offer the private yacht-like experience that makes us one of the world's most popular choices in ultraluxury cruising," said Seabourn president Mark Tamis.

"We are proud that after 16 years in the fleet, Seabourn Sojourn will continue her journeys with Mitsui Ocean Cruises," Tamis said. "In the coming year, we will find special ways to celebrate Sojourn's legacy with guests and crew."

Mitsui said last month that it had partnered with a U.S. agency to facilitate North American bookings on the Fuji.
